Fundraising Info

If you're interested in fundraising, here's some ideas (and let us know if you have more):
  • Anti-corporate olympics (e.g., create your own franken food, sweatshop cover-up/disclosure relay, and pie your favorite [insert some evil institution here] leader).
  • Music shows (do your own or convince local promoters to make their shows partial benefits)
  • Bake sales
  • Begging sympathetic groups for money
  • Begging friends and family for money
  • Begging random people on the street for money
  • Pass the hat at any meeting/gathering you go to
  • Get a table at your local Rage Against the Machine concert (they're free, you know -- and if half the folks at a 50,000 person concert give you a nickel, well, that's still a lot of money)
  • Dumpster dive for nice stuff at local colleges and then sell it at a yard sale.
  • E-Bay stuff in your great-aunt's attic
  • Radical movie night
  • Dumpster dive for t-shirts, silk-screen or spray paint them with something rad, then sell them for a dollar.
  • Raffle parties -- raffle sex toys from local college dumpsters and dates with local revolutionaries and defendants (you'd be surprised how many people will pay for sex toys and dates).
  • Get defendants to speak to local groups and colleges, then pass the hat after they've made everyone in the room cry.
  • Apply for grants geared towards individuals, they're out there. For example, there's one for youth. It's supposed to be used NOT for criminal defense, but for your school or writing a book or touring or doing activist stuff, or just buying yourself something nice (I think law prevents them from giving grants for legal defense). But if I got $250 from this grant, well, hell, I can pay my rent with that and donate my rent money to R2K Legal! This has been a very expensive experience for a lot of folks, and I'm sure a lot of them can use the money. Here's the info: if you know of a child of a targeted activist or a young activist who might qualify for an RFC grant, contact the Rosenberg Fund for Children:
