Sunday spread: 'There were so many cops around looking for anyone'
01/14/01 - Philadelphia Inquirer
Sierra Gettier, 21, was working at a bar on Walnut Street last summer.
On Aug. 1, she said, she was walking down Walnut Street and saw an acquaintance whose hat had been stolen by a protester. He ran after the culprit. When he returned with his hat, he was arrested, she said.
"I wanted to know what had happened, and I walked up to a police officer and asked him what happened.
They put me in a paddy wagon, my hands turned blue. They had me talk to an investigator."
About 1 a.m., she said, after five hours in jail, a police officer came and got her. "They said they were sorry for the inconvenience and drove me home.
It was such a strange week. There were so many cops around looking for anyone looking the wrong way."
